Generate a QR Code for your phone

If you want to take advantage of COVID Collect’s contactless sign-in option, you’ll need everyone who uses it to create a QR code. It’s easy and free. There are lots of places online where users can generate a QR code to display on their smart device when signing in.

In the tutorial steps below, we are going to show you how to generate a QR code that encodes a name and contact telephone number, this is all COVID Collect‘s automatic sign-in feature needs for contactless customer sign-ins. We’ll be focusing on using the web site ‘QR Code Monkey’, but the process is largely similar irrespective of the service or app used. The important part is to just make sure you have your name on line one and your contact number on line two.

step 1
Set data type

To start, open your browser and go to www.qrcode-monkey.com. At the top of the screen you'll see a number of tabbed options. Click on 'TEXT'.

step 2
Input the data

In the field labelled 'Your Text', type in your name and press [Enter] for a new line. On the second line, type in your contact telephone number, omitting any spaces.

step 3
Create the code

That's it! You don't need to set anything else, so scroll to the bottom of the page and press 'Create QR Code'. Your contact details should now be encoded into the updated QR code on screen.

step 4
Download and display

You should now save this QR code as an image to your phone. Tap on the 'Download PNG' button and store the image somewhere safe on the device. When you next sign-in with COVID Collect, all you need to do is show this QR code image to the tablet's camera, and it will retrieve your contact details.
